PITTSFORD, NY -- The RIT women's soccer team was shut out by St. John Fisher College (2-4-1) 3-0 in Empire 8 action on Tuesday evening. The loss drops the Tigers to 0-3-1 overall and 0-2-0 in the Empire 8.
The Tigers were out shot by St. John Fisher 23-6. The Cardinals had five corner kicks to RIT's two.
Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) made 10 saves in net for RIT, taking the loss.
After a scoreless first half, St. John Fisher took a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute on Mary Daugherty's first goal of the season. She scored on a header off a free kick from 25 yards out.
The Cardinals made it 2-0 on Megan Gee's goal in the 67th minute. She scored off a corner kick from Elizabeth Lawrence.
Amanda Siebert gave St. John Fisher a 3-0 lead with her goal off an assist from Mary Sheehan in the 71st minute.
RIT head coach Tom Natalie, who needs one win for 100 for his career, will lead the Tigers to Canton, New York to take on St. Lawrence on Saturday, September 19. Game time is at 2 pm.
