Men's soccer loses in OT at Union

SCHENECTADY, NY –
The RIT men's soccer team lost in overtime to Union College, 2-1 on Saturday evening. The loss drops RIT to 2-2-1 overall, while Union improves to 3-0-0. Union's Ryan Benagan scored the game-winner in the 96th minute on a shot from 15 yards out.

The Dutchmen scored 4:05 into the contest when Benagan fed a through ball to a streaking Sebastiaan Jensen who one touched it behind RIT goalkeeper Bora Turgut (Rochester, NY/Aquinas).

RIT tied the game in the 54th minute when Dom Coleprete found a loose ball in the box off a direct kick. The goal was Caleprete's first of his collegiate career.

Union dominated in shots, out-shooting the Tigers 17-5. Freshman netminder Bora Turgut (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) made six saves in a losing effort for RIT. Adam Marguilies turned away two shots for Union.

RIT is off until Friday, September 18 when the Tigers host St. Lawrence University at 4 p.m. on RIT Field.
