The RIT men's lacrosse team (5-2) suffered its second straight loss, 12-9 at Clarkson University (4-2) on Wednesday afternoon.  RIT never led in the contest, falling behind 5-0 in the second quarter.  The Tigers made a spirited rally, but could never gain the advantage.

Clarkson scored the game's first five goals and held RIT scoreless over the first 25:46 of the contest.  Greg Gibbons and Tom Ross combined to score all five Clarkson goals during the run.  RIT stormed back however, scoring the next four goals to go into halftime down just one at 5-4.

Kelso Davis (Freeport, ME/Deerfield Academy) (Freeport, ME/Deerfield Academy) started the run, scoring a goal with 4:14 left in the half.  #A.J. Tingle# (Cary, NC/Green Hope) made it 4-2 with 1:49 left.  Sean Gillies (Oakville, Ontario/Albany Academy) (Oakville, ON/Albany Academy) made the score 5-3 with 18 seconds left in the half, while Nick Urda (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) won the ensuing face-off and scored eight seconds later for his first collegiate goal.

The two teams traded goals three times in the third quarter, with Clarkson holding three, two-goal leads and RIT answering back all three times.

After the two teams traded goals once again to start the fourth quarter, Clarkson put the game away with a three-goal burst in just under five minutes to put the game away.  Gibbons and Ross were the culprits once again, with Gibbons scoring twice sandwiched around a tally by Ross.

Gibbons led the way with eight goals and an assist to carry the Golden Knights.  Ross added three goals and two assists, while Brian Hoey dished out five assists.

Gillies led RIT with a pair of goals and an assist.  Adam Vlassis (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) added a goal and an assist.  Alex Crepinsek (Oakville, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) (Mississauga, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) led the squad with five ground balls.

Both teams were 1-for-4 with the man-up.  Clarkson out-shot RIT 34-33, while RIT held a slim edge in the ground ball battle, 36-34.

John Svoren made 12 saves in the win for Clarkson.

RIT is back in action on Saturday, when they travel to play nationally-ranked SUNY Cortland at 1 p.m.
