CORTLAND, NY - The No. 2 RIT women's hockey team (19-2-2, 13-2-1 ECAC West) had seven different players score in a 7-1 win over SUNY Cortland (3-17-3, 2-12-2 ECAC West) on Saturday afternoon. RIT has now won six straight games and are 15-1-1 in its last 17 contests.
RIT out-shot SUNY Cortland by a lopsided amount for the second straight day, 59-10. Last night RIT out-shot Cortland 62-5.
The Tigers scored their 11th shorthanded goal of the season, one shy of the school record set last season. That total leads the nation.
Sophomores

#Traci Galbraith (Oakville, Ontario/Burlington Jr. Barracudas)# (Oakville, Ontario) each tallied one goal.
Junior goalie
#Karen Quigley (Conception Bay South, Newfoundland/Warner Warriors)# (Conception Bay South, Newfoundland) stopped nine shots to pick up her second win in as many days.
The Tigers took a 2-0 lead after the first period on Littman's goal on a slap shot at 15 minutes and a wraparound score from Klassen at 16:31. A three-goal second period extended RIT's lead to 5-0. Owczarczak scored a power-play goal at 9:57 on a wrister from the slot, then Mazzetta and Dagg scored even-strength goals just seven seconds apart late in the period.
Galbraith made it a 6-0 game with a slap shot from the right point at 9:52 of the third period. Julia Fleming broke up Quigley's shutout bid with a sharp-angled shot from the right side that banked in off the goalie. Stack completed the scoring at 17:45 with a short-handed score. Stack's shorthanded goal was her fifth of the year, first in the nation.
Goaltender Melissa Stern made a career-high 52 saves for the Red Dragons.
RIT leads the nation with 111 goals in 23 games (4.83 goals per game). They have out-scored opponents 25-9 during a six-game winning streak.
The Tigers complete the regular season on Friday and Saturday at home against ECAC West foe Buffalo State. Friday's game begins at 7 p.m. and Saturday's gets underway at 5 p.m.
