Basketball squads to host University of Rochester on Wednesday; men's game to televised locally on TWCS-26

ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT women's and men's basketball teams host cross-town rival University of Rochester on Wednesday in a pair of early-season non conference tussles at Clark Gym.  The women's game begins at 6 p.m., while the men's contest begins at 8 p.m.  Both games will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040 AM, with J.C. Delass calling the action.  The men's game will also be aired live on TWCS-26, with Gene Battaglia and Rick Whitwood providing the call.

The RIT women come into the contest with a 3-1 record, and will play its fifth straight home game to start the season.  On Monday, the Tigers defeated SUNY Geneseo 62-54 behind 17 points from freshman #Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport)#.  The Yellowjackets enter the game with an identical 3-1 mark.  On Sunday, Rochester defeated SUNY Oswego 66-45.

On Sunday, the RIT men (1-3) earned its first win of the 2009-10 season, 60-52 at SUNY Cobleskill.  Senior forward #Scott Young (Almond, NY/Hornell)# enters the contest averaging 24.0 points per game.  The Yellowjackets are a perfect 5-0 after defeating Scranton, 75-61 on Sunday.  Bill Serle is averaging 11.4 points per game to lead Rochester.
