Biography

2008-09: Sharpshooter played in and started all 28 games … earned All-Empire 8 honorable mention accolades … made 73 3-pointers, fourth most in one season at RIT … third in Empire 8 in made 3-pointers (73) … second on squad with 11.4 points per game … third on squad in rebounds (4.5 per game) … scored a career-high 23 points on three occasions, against Thomas, Houghton, and Nazareth … went for 23 points, and a career-best nine boards in a win over Thomas … scored 23 points and was 7-for-11 from behind the arc to go along with eight boards in just 27 minutes of an 89-73 win over Houghton … named to the Harold J. Brodie All-Tournament Team … also hit seven 3-pointers and went for 23 points in the first round of the JPMorgan Chase Scholarship Tournament at Nazareth … RIT Male Athlete of the Week, Jan. 26 … shot 81.8 percent from the foul line (27-for-33) … scored in double figures 16 times … team was 11-5 in those contests.

2007-08: Played in 23 games, battling through a myriad of injuries … started 10 games … second on the team with 28 made 3-pointers … made 43.1 percent of his 3-point attempts … averaged 5.8 points and 2.4 boards per game … started the season by averaging 11.8 points over his first five games … made 11-of-14 3-pointers to start the season … shot 6-for-8 from the field, including 4-for-5 from 3-point range en route to a career-best 19 points at St. John Fisher … scored 14 points in the season-opener against York (N.Y.).

2006-07: Appeared in all 27 games … started the first five contests of the year … averaged 4.1 points and 2.6 rebounds per contest … drilled 20 3-pointers … tallied season-best totals of 17 points and eight rebounds on 7-of-10 shooting in the ECAC Quarterfinal at SUNY Oswego … had 15 points and was 4-for-4 from behind the arc against Ithaca … scored in
20 games.

Before RIT: Played four years of varsity basketball at Hornell High School for Head Coach Charles Young … three-year captain … 2006 Livingston County Player of the Year … earned Gold Team MVP honors at the Rochester Ronald McDonald All-Star Game … 2006 All-Greater Rochester All-Star … earned All-New York State third team honors … Hornell’s all-time leading scorer with 1,351 points.

Personal: Biomedical sciences major … son of Martha and Robert Young.

Coach McVean says: “Scott is coming off his most consistent season, and is obviously someone we look to for instant scoring. At 6-6, he is an excellent long-range shooter. As a captain, we are depending on him to carry a large part of the scoring load, while providing leadership.”
