ALFRED, NY – The RIT women's swimming and diving team defeated the Alfred University Saxons, by a score of 169-67. This is the Tigers first win of the season.
Caitlyn Burr (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) earned two first-place finishes in the 200-yard individual medley, where she out swam her opponents by nearly 15 seconds, and the 100-yard butterfly. Burr also teamed up with
Sara Kucsan (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan ),
Taylor Whalen (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca), and Rachel Redfern to earn a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. In addition, Whalen secured a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Sophomore Courtney Schwartling garnered a first-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle, with a time of 11:50.28. She also took first in the 500-yard freestyle.
Rachel Lorenz (Norwich, NY/Norwich) finished first twice, in the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard freestyle. She also teamed up with
Jenna Hoffman (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena),
Kerzia Hopson (Norwich, NY/Norwich), and
Molly Woods (Avon, CT/Avon) to earn a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Hopson finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke, and both Hoffman and Woods took second-place finishes.
Diver
Cat Jones (Eden, NY/Eden) finished first twice, in the 1- and 3-meter dives.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, when they travel to St. Lawrence. The meet is expected to start at 1 p.m.
