ITHACA, NY - The RIT volleyball team split a pair of matches en route to a fifth place finish at the 2009 New York State Regional Challenge on Sunday. RIT opened the day with a 25-27, 25-22, 22-25, 20-25 loss to St. Lawrence. The Tigers finished the afternoon with a 25-22, 25-15, 25-17 win over Lycoming. Senior middle hitter
Victoria Petko (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Petko slammed 18 kills to go along with six blocks and three service aces in the loss to St. Lawrence.
Alli Kamsch (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) added nine kills, while
Melanie Springer (Frederick, MD/Governor Thomas Johnson) dished out 27 assists and led the way with 17 digs.
Katie Cooper (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) compiled seven kills.
RIT hit .279 in the win over Lycoming. Petko slammed 13 kills to go along with seven digs and three blocks.
Rebecca Moore (San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo) added eight kills and hit .350. Springer dished out 30 assists and had eight.
Elyse St. Amand (Plantsville, CT/Southington) added six digs.
Petko finished the season with 506 kills, 141 blocks, and 65 service aces, most on the team. She also finished her career as the all-time leader in assisted blocks (515), and is sixth all-time with 1,681 kills.
The Tigers finish the season with a 21-20 record. It was the final collegiate matches for seniors
