WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The RIT wrestling team (2-5) are currently 2-1 after Friday's action at the 21st Annual Budd Whitehill National Dual Tournament, held at Lamade Gymnasium on the campus of Lycoming College.  The Tigers fell to York, 30-7 on Friday morning, but rebounded to pick up their first dual win of the season, 22-19 over Thiel.  RIT ended the day with a 22-16 victory over Norwich. 

Junior #Mike McInally (Bergen, NY/Byron-Bergen)# (Byron, NY/Byron-Bergen) stayed undefeated at 125 lbs., moving to 15-0 after defeating Sean Hightman of York via major decision, 8-0, Robbie Miller of Thiel, 9-5 and John Dasilva of Norwich, 14-0.  McInally is currently ranked fourth in Division III at 125 lbs. 

Senior #Luke Baum (Ontario, NY/Wayne)# (Ontario, NY/Wayne) also went 3-0 on the afternoon.   Baum opened the day by upending Tyler Scarinzi of York, 8-2 at 141 lbs.  He then secured a major decision over Mason Stewart of Thiel, 11-2.  Baum ended the day with a technical fall victory, 19-1 over Sean Scales of Norwich.  Baum is now 18-4 this season, ranked sixth in Division III at 141 lbs.

Against Thiel, freshman #John Durfee (Rutland, VT/Fair Haven Union)# (Rutland, VT/Fair Haven Union) earned his first collegiate win, defeating Patrick Morris of via pinfall at 184 lbs.  #Ben Johnstone (West Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta)# (West Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) defeated Sean Ferguson of Thiel, 4-2 at 165 lbs. Senior #Nick Ryan (Fairport, NY/Fairport)# (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and sophomore #Stephan Avorkliya (Charlotte, NC/East Mecklenburg)# (Charlotte, NC/East Mecklenburg) also were victorious at 174 and 197 lbs. respectively in the win over Thiel.

#Shawn Burrington (Barre, VT/Spaulding)# (Barre, VT/Spaulding) earned a victory over Scott MacLean of Norwich, 10-3 at 133 lbs., while #Jason Wake (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy)# (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) picked up a 10-3 win over Clayton Brittingham at 165 lbs.  Johnstone, Ryan and Avorkliya also picked up their second wins of the afternoon.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, as they open play against Messiah at 9 a.m.
