HOBOKEN, N.J. - The RIT women's basketball team fell to Stevens Institute of Technology 100-48 in a tough match-up Friday night held at Stevens in Hoboken, N.J.
#Danielle Furman (Coudersport, PA/Coudersport)# (Coudersport, NY/Coudersport) led the Tigers in scoring, making good on seven field goals, two 3-point shots and two free throws for 18 points.
#Anne Wapshare (Blasdell, NY/Blasdell)# (Blasdell, NY/Blasdell) was close behind with 13 points, successful on five field goals and two free throws.
Stevens outshot RIT in the first half, marking a scoring percentage of 68.8% as compared to RIT's 25.8%. The Ducks lead 52-18 at the end of the first.
The second half fared slightly better for the Tigers, as the women increased their scoring percentage to 35.7% while Stevens' fell to 52.6%. Unfortunately, the women could not close the gap.
Stevens increased their win streak to six with the win over the Tigers.
The Tigers are now 3-13 overall, and 0-7 in the Empire 8 conference. They are back in action Sunday, January 25 when they travel to Oneonta, N.Y. to play Hartwick College at 12 p.m.
