BRIDGEPORT, CT - Freshman forwards
#Ali Hills (Honeoye Falls, NY)# (Honeoye Falls, NY) and
#Maggie Giamo (Orchard Park, NY/Buffalo Bisons)# (West Seneca, NY) recorded a goal and assist apiece, as the #5 RIT women's hockey team (9-1-2) settled for a 4-4 tie at Division I Sacred Heart (5-9-1) on Friday evening. RIT now has an eight-game (6-0-2) unbeaten streak.
The Tigers let a 4-2 third period slip away, as Sacred Heart's Gina Arnone scored twice in a span of 2:38 to knot the game at 4.
Hills scored RIT's third and fourth goals of the contest. She now has sevan goals and 12 points this season.
#Maggie Giamo (Orchard Park, NY/Buffalo Bisons)# (West Seneca, NY) scored her second goal of the season late in the first period to give RIT a 2-1 lead. #
Melissa Hall (Chesterland, OH/Gilmour Academy)# (Chesterland, OH) and #
Lindsay Littman (Eaglesham, Alberta/Warner Warriors)# (Eaglesham, Alberta) assisted on the goal.
Senior goaltender
#Sandra Grant (Abbotsford, British Columbia/Pacific Steelers)# (Abbotsford, British Columbia) stopped 19 shots for RIT. Amanda Nagle had 32 saves for Sacred Heart. RIT out-shot the Pioneers, 36-23.
The Pioneers went 1-for-8 on the power-play, while holding the Tigers scoreless in six attempts of their own with the man-advantage. RIT had the only four shots of overtime.
Freshman forward
#Megan Kobar (Calgary, Alberta)# (Calgary Alberta) gave RIT a 1-0 lead just 1:00 into the game off an assist by Hills.
#Dayna Birch (Abbotsford, British Columbia/Pacific Steelers) (Abootsford, British Columbia) also scored for the Tigers, who played their first game in 23 days this evening.
The Tigers are back in action against the Pioneers on Saturday with the puck dropping at 2 p.m.
