ROCHESTER
, NY – Eleven different players recorded at least one point, as the #5 RIT women's hockey team (6-1-1) recorded its third straight win, 6-1 over Hamilton (4-2-0) in a non-conference contest on Wednesday evening at Ritter Arena.

The Tigers jumped right on Hamilton, from the second shift of the game and played a complete 60 minutes, out-shooting the Continentals 57-18. Sarah Dagg (St. George, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks) (St. George, Ontario) scored twice for RIT, while Ali Hills (Honeoye Falls, NY) recorded a goal and an assist, and Erica Owczarczak (West Seneca, NY/Buffalo Bisons) (West Seneca, NY) along with Amanda Klassen (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Warner Warriors) (Winnipeg, Manitoba) dished out a pair of assists apiece.

Sandra Grant (Abbotsford, British Columbia/Pacific Steelers) (Abbotsford, British Columbia) stopped 17 shots to pick up her fifth win of the year for RIT. Lesley Ryder was tremendous in net for Hamilton in the loss, stopping 51 shots.

RIT scored three times in both the first and third period.

Sophomore forward Katie Stack (Batavia, NY/Rochester Edge) (Batavia, NY) opened the scoring for RIT 6:06 in, as she stole a puck in the neutral zone, zipped around a defenseman and slid a shot against the grain from the shot that went between the legs of Hamilton goaltender Lesley Ryder. The shorthanded goal, RIT's sixth in eight games this season, was Stack's second of the year.

Hamilton struck right back 37 seconds later on the same power-play, as Amy Allen jammed a loose puck home from in front of the RIT net after Stephanie Miguel's original shot was stopped by Grant.

Hills gave RIT its lead back at the 11:06 mark, as she one-timed a feed from Owczarczak in the slot for her fifth tally of the season. Klassen also assisted on the goal.

The Tigers tallied their first power-play goal of the contest with 1:27 left in the frame, as Dagg backhanded a tough-angle shot to the short-side to make it 3-1. Hills took a shot from the blueline that was blocked by a defenseman. The rebound came to Klassen in the slot, who fed Dagg.

RIT out-shot Hamilton 21-8 over the opening 20 minutes.

Grant made her best save of the game three minutes into the second frame, as Hamilton's Kathryn Kroleski blocked a Tiger shot at the blueline and raced in alone. Kroleski tried to go high, but Grant made a great shoulder save.

Ryder made a couple of big saves herself to keep the game at 3-1. Stack was stopped point blank in front of the net after a great set up by Dagg. Stack then made a bid for her second shorthanded goal of the game, as she stole a puck at the RIT blueline and raced in all alone. Stack went forehand to backhand, but Ryder stood her ground and made a big pad save.

The Tigers pulled away in the third, as Megan Kobar (Calgary, Alberta) (Calgary, Alberta) stuffed home a loose puck in front of the Hamilton net on the power-play at the 9:21 mark to make the score 4-1 RIT. Kylie Mazzetta (Lakewood, CO/Colorado Selects) (Lakewood, CO) and Owczarczak assisted.

Dagg got her second of the game, as a Hamilton clearing attempt at the blueline hit the linesman, bounced off Jamie Parhar (Calgary, Alberta) (Calgary, Alberta) to Dagg who raced in on the right side a ripped a shot past Ryder for her sixth goal of the year.

Senior defenseman Maegan Geypens (Oshawa, Ontario/Durham Lightning) (Oshawa, Ontario) tallied her second goal of the season in the final minute on the power-play, as she redirected a point shot from Shireen Irani (Calgary, Alberta/PSA Chaos) (Calgary, Alberta) past Ryder. Geypens now needs just six points to become the sixth player in the history of the program to record 100 for her career. Lindsay Littman (Eaglesham, Alberta/Warner Warriors) (Eaglesham, Alberta) also assisted on the goal.

The Tigers went 3-for-6 with the man-advantage and scored their sixth shorthanded goal of the year, tops in all of Division III.

With the win, RIT improves to 30-4-1 all-time against Hamilton and has won four straight in the series.

The Tigers are back in action on Friday and Saturday, as they return to ECAC West play, traveling on route 104 to play SUNY Oswego. Both games begin at 7 p.m.
