ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (2-3) women's basketball team was defeated by #4 University of Rochester, 93-47 in non-conference action at Clark Gymnasium on Wednesday evening. The Yellowjackets led 48-25 at the half en route to their fifth win of the season.
The Tigers kept the score close at the beginning of the first half, but went cold from the field, going scoreless for nearly four minutes midway through the half allowing the Yellowjackets to extend their lead to 24 points.
#Sharon Dennis (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool)# (Liverpool, NY) paced the Tigers with 11 first half points, finishing with a team-high 17 points and 10 rebounds. She went 7-for-17 from the field and 3-for-3 from the foul line.
#Danielle Furman (Coudersport, PA/Coudersport)# (Coudersport, PA) scored 14 points, dished out two assists and made three, three-point buckets.
Rochester featured four players in double-figures led by Melissa Alwardt's 17 points. Alex Porter tallied 13 points and had five rebounds. Jessica Mastronardi added 10 points and eight rebounds and Jessica Waddell chipped in 10 points.
The Tigers will begin Empire 8 play on Saturday, December 6 with a game at Nazareth College. Tip-off is at 2 pm.
