Geypens Becomes Sixth Tiger to Record 100 Career Points, as #5 Women's Hockey Gets Past Hamilton

CLINTON, NY –
Senior forward/defenseman #Maegan Geypens (Oshawa, Ontario/Durham Lightning)# (Oshawa, Ontario) became the sixth player in the history of the RIT women's hockey team to surpass 100 career points, as the #5 Tigers (9-1-1, 6-1-1 ECAC West) defeated Hamilton (4-5-0) for the second time in a week, 5-4 on Wednesday evening. 

Geypens recorded the milestone point with an assist on a goal by #Kelley Prom (Grafton, WI/Wisconsin Wild)# (Grafton, WI) 57 seconds into the second period to give RIT a 2-1 lead.  Geypens added her third goal of the season and 40th of her career with 2:06 left in the period to give RIT a 4-3 lead.  Geypens now has 40 goals and 61 assists in 87 career games.

Hamilton took a 3-2 lead with two goals 26 seconds apart in the second period by Stephanie Miguel and Amy Allen.

Sophomore forward #Katie Stack (Batavia, NY/Rochester Edge)# (Batavia, NY) scored her second goal of the game with 8:20 left in the third period on assists from #Maggie Giamo (Orchard Park, NY/Buffalo Bisons)# (Orchard Park, NY) and #Sarah Dagg (St. George, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks)# (St. George, Ontario) to give RIT a 5-3 lead.  That goal would prove to be the game-winner.

RIT has now won six in a row and are unbeaten in their last seven games (6-0-1).   They have out-scored their foes 35-8 during the six-game winning streak.

Miguel gave Hamilton a 1-0 lead 8:16 into the game from Allen.  Stack answered back for RIT just over six minutes later on assists from Dagg and #Amanda Klassen (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Warner Warriors)# (Winnipeg, Manitoba).

The Tigers out-shot Hamilton, 36-14.  RIT was 2-for-5 with the man-advantage, while Hamilton was 1-for-4.  Sandra Grant (Abbotsford, British Columbia/Pacific Steelers) (Abbotsford, British Columbia) did not have one of her better games of the season, but earned the win, stopping 10 shots.  Meg Shine made 31 saves for Hamilton.

A week ago, the Tigers defeated Hamilton, 6-1 at Ritter Arena.

Dagg led the way with three assists, while Stack recorded two goals and an assist.  Klassen scored a goal and dished out an assist, while  #Keltie Jones (Burlington, Ontario/Burlington Jr. Barracudas)# (Burlington, Ontario) finished with two helpers.

The Tigers return to the ice on January 2-3, 2009, as they travel to play Division I Sacred Heart.
