POTSDAM, NY -- The #5 RIT women's hockey team completed the weekend sweep of SUNY Potsdam with a 4-1 win on Saturday afternoon. The win improves RIT to 5-1-1 overall on the season.
#Ali Hills (Honeoye Falls, NY)# (Honeoye Falls, NY) led the way with two goals for RIT.
The Tigers defense was stout again on Saturday, allowing just 16 shots on net.
#Sandra Grant (Abbotsford, British Columbia/Pacific Steelers)# (Abbotsford, BC) posted her fifth win of the season, making 15 stops on the afternoon. RIT outshot the Bears by more than a 2-to-1 ratio, firing 37 on net.
#Keltie Jones (Burlington, Ontario/Burlington Jr. Barracudas)# (Burlington, ON) dished out two assists. Both teams struggled on the power play, going 0-for-3.
#Megan Kobar (Calgary, Alberta)# (Calgary, AB), who scored her first collegiate goal on Friday, opened the scoring for RIT on Saturday with a goal at 7:28 of the first, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
#Katie Stack (Batavia, NY/Rochester Edge)# (Batavia, NY) and
#Shireen Irani (Calgary, Alberta/PSA Chaos)# (Calgary, AB) had the assists on the play.
The Bears scored their only goal of the weekend at 14:19 of the first period briefly tying the score at 1-1. Annmarie Lewis scored her second goal of the season for Potsdam.
Kylie Mazzeta (Lakewood, CO) and
Ali Hills (Honeoye Falls, NY) scored for the Tigers in the second period to break the game open. Mazzeta scored her first goal of the season on assists from
Kelly Prom (Grafton, WI) and
#Nicole Scuteri (Rochester, NY/Rochester Edge)# (Rochester, NY) at 8:19 of the second.
Hills made it 3-1 RIT at 8:57 of the second on assists from
Keltie Jones (Burlington, Ontario/Burlington Jr. Barracudas) and
#Lindsay Littman (Eaglesham, Alberta/Warner Warriors)# (Eaglesham, AB). It was Hills second goal in as many nights.
Hills put the game away at 8:40 of the third to round out the scoring for RIT. Jones and
#Sarah Dagg (St. George, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks)# (St. George, ON) assisted on the goal.
The Tigers return to action on December 3 when they host Hamilton College at 7 pm at Ritter Arena.
