ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's swimming and diving squad fell to Alfred University in the 2008-09 season opener, 150-92 at the Judson Pool on Tuesday evening. RIT had just two student-athletes win three events.
Senior
Phil Baudoin (Blacksburg, VA/Blacksburg) (Blacksburg, VA/Blacksburg) won RIT's lone swimming event, the 100-yard butterfly in a time of :53.91.
Sophomore #
Evan Wendt (Norwich, NY/Norwich)# (Norwich, NY/Norwich) is strong proof that RIT's excellent diving tradition will continue, as he annexed both the 1- and 3-meter events with nearly identical scores. He won the 1-meter in 239.35 and the 3-meter in 239.20.
Junior
Greg Pilgrim (Almond, NY/Alfred-Almond) (Alfred, NY/Alfred-Almond), along with freshmen #
AJ Broderick (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville)# (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) and
Kevin Christiansen (Penfield, NY/Penfield) all had a pair of second place finishes.
The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday, as they host SUNY Oswego in a dual meet, beginning at 6 p.m.
