Dietz Tallied Two in Win

Bret Dietz tallied two goals as RIT downed Damen 4-3.

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's soccer team held on to defeat Daemen College 4-3 in non-conference action at RIT Field this afternoon. The Tigers never trailed, but had to hold on in the second half to earn the win. The win improves RIT to 5-7-0 overall.

The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute when Bret Dietz (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) converted a penalty kick. Bobby Bullard (Bergen, NY/Byron-Bergen) (Bergen, NY/Byron-Bergen) was hauled down inside the box and Dietz stepped up and calmly sent his shot home for his  first goal of the season.

After halftime, Dietz gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead off a free kick in the 49th minute. From 22 yards out Dietz took a tip from David Vogt (Rochester, NY/McQuaid) (Rochester, NY/McQuaid) and blistered a shot over the wall and into the top right corner off for his second goal of the game.

The Wildcats responded with goals in the 52nd and 61st minutes, tying the score at 2-2 on a goal from Jordan Andrecolich.

Todd Gaulocher (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) (Greenwich, CT) gave RIT a 3-2 lead in the 62nd minute. #Jake Yates (Waynesburg, PA/Waynesburg)# (Waynesburg, PA) sent a service into the area that cleared everyone but Gaulocher who headed the ball home for his fourth goal of the season.

Dan Holowaty (Strongsville, OH/St. Ignatius) (Strongeville, OH/St. Ignatius) scored an unassisted goal in the 82nd minute off of a miscue by Daemen's defense. It was Holowaty's sixth goal of the season and proved to be the game-winner as Daemen scored a late goal to make it interesting.

RIT out-shot the Wildcats 13-8. Eric Koop (Brockport, NY/Brockport) (Brockport, NY) picked up his second win of the season for RIT who will host #12 Stevens on Saturday afternoon at 12 pm in Empire 8 action.
