Vic Petko (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) became the 12th player in the history of the RIT volleyball program to record 1,000 career kills, as the RIT volleyball team (13-16) dropped a pair of matches at the NYU Violet Classic on Friday evening.
The Tigers fell to SUNY New Paltz in five games in the opening match of the day. RIT won the first two games, 25-21 and 25-20, but dropped the last three matches, 25-13, 25-18, 15-6. In the finale against NYU, the Violets swept RIT by scores of 25-21, 25-13, 25-21.
In the opener against SUNY New Paltz, Petko slammed 16 kills to lead the way. She now has 379 kills on the year and 1,009 for her career.

Little led RIT with eight kills in the nightcap against NYU.
RIT is back in action on Saturday, concluding play at the Violet Invitational. The Tigers play nationally-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater at 12 p.m. and Connecticut College at 2 p.m.
