Softball Swept by #3 Ithaca

ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT softball team (6-14, 0-4 Empire 8) lost both ends of a doubleheader against #3 Ithaca at the RIT Field on Saturday afternoon.  Ithaca won game one 12-1 and game two, 9-0.  Both games went five innings.

In game one, the Tigers were held to just three hits.  Ithaca scored five runs in both the third and fourth innings.  Jenn Marro hit a three-run homer for the Bombers, while Erica Cutspec was 3-for-4 with a single, double and triple. 

Breana Sniezek (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg), Jenna Kilroy (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) and Mary Keegan (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) had hits for RIT.  Keegan scored RIT's lone run on a groundout by Nikki Taylor (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (Oswego, NY/Oswego)

In game two, Ithaca scored five runs in the first inning and three more in the second to build an insurmountable lead. 

Three Ithaca hurlers combined on a two-hitter.  Amanda Kowalsick, Nicole Cade and Stacey Pelesz drove in two runs each for Ithaca.  The Bombers improve to 20-4 overall and 7-0 in Empire 8 play.

Taylor and Allison Ingalls (Cuba, NY/Cuba-Rushford) (Cuba, NY/Cubs-Rushford) had hits for RIT.

Amanda Morehouse (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) pitched 2 2/3 innings of relief, allowing just two hits and one run.

RIT has now lost six straight contests.

The Tigers are back in action on Friday, as they host Utica in an Empire 8 doubleheader that starts at 4 p.m.
