ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT softball team (6-10, 0-2 Empire 8) kicked off conference play by losing both ends of a doubleheader at St. John Fisher on Tuesday afternoon.  The Cardinals defeated RIT 4-2 in game one and took game two 11-2.

In game one, the Tigers got off to a tremendous start, taking a 2-0 lead before the first out was recorded.  Leadoff hitter Breana Sniezek (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) ripped a single.  Nikki Taylor (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (Oswego, NY/Oswego) followed by slamming her first collegiate home run.

Unfortunately for RIT, they would muster just one other hit off of Cardinals starter Jessica Maurer in the next seven innings, a one-out double by Stephanie Nailos (Pittsfield, MA/Taconic) (Pittsfield, MA/Taconic) in the fourth inning.

The Cardinals scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the fourth inning off of RIT starter Mary Keegan (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West).  Keegan did pitch a complete game, allowing five hits and three earned runs.

Sniezek gave RIT a quick 1-0 lead with a lead-off home run in game two, but the St. John Fisher bats erupted for 14 hits en route to the 11-2 win.

Jenna Mausolf (Hudson, NY/Hudson) (Hudson, NY/Hudson) drove in Shila Wells (Underhill, VT/Essex) (Underhill, VT/Essex) with a double in the fourth inning for RIT's other run.

Katie Botkins and Ashlee Krause ripped home runs in game two for St. John Fisher (11-7, 2-0 Empire 8), while Nicole Watkins was 4-for-4.

The Tigers are back in action on Wednesday, as they travel to play Buffalo State College in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
