Men's Basketball Suffers First Loss of the Season at Clarkson

POTSDAM, NY -
The RIT men's basketball team (1-1) lost its first game of the 2006-07 season, shooting just 39.6 percent of the season and committing 24 turnovers, falling to undefeated Clarkson University, 62-51 at Alumni Gymnasium on Friday evening.

Senior forward Tim Bacon (Massena. NY/Massena) (Massena, NY/Massena) led RIT with 19 points and five rebounds, shooting 9-for-16 from the field, including 6-for-8 in the second half.  Kenny Gethers (Syracuse, NY/Bishop Grimes) (Syracuse, NY/Bishop Grimes) hed 12 points and three steals. 

Colin Roy (Malta, NY/Ballston Spa) (Malta, NY/Malta) had five steals and four assists.  Rick Whitwood (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) had two 3-pointers.

Jon Youngmann led the Golden Knights with 16 points, as Clarkson held a 37-31 edge on the boards and went to the free-throw line 30 times to RIT's 11.

Clarkson led 33-23 at the half.

The Tigers are right back in action on Saturday, as they complete their road trip versus St. Lawrence at 4 p.m.
