The first period was evenly matched  SLU dominated the early part of the period, but RIT got things going after killing the first of two 5-3 penalty kills and took it to the Saints. The Tigers best scoring chance came at the 7:00 mark when Ricky Walton (Hamilton, ON/Hamilton Red Wings) (Hamilton, ON) came in on a shorthanded breakaway. The shot was turned aside as the period ended 0-0.

The Saints tacked on another goal in the third, giving them a two-goal lead once again.
