Click For BoxscoreITHACA, NY -- The RIT men's basketball team dropped their third straight game on Friday with a 69-53 loss at Ithaca College. It was the first loss to the Bombers since February8, 2002. RIT drops to 4-4 overall and 0-1 in the Empire 8. Ithaca improves to 3-5 overall and 1-0 in the Empire 8.
RIT held a slim 37-36 lead at the break as the Tigers shot 50% from the field. RIT shot 15-of-30 from the floor, including two three-pointers. RIT made all five of their free throw attempts.
Tim Bacon (Massena, NY/Massena) (Massena, NY/Massena) led RIT with 11 points on four-of-six shooting from the floor. He also made all four of his free throw attempts.
Fran Snyder (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon St. Jude) (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon St. Jude) added nine points and three assists, while
Rob Hampton (Ocala, FL/Belleview) (Ocala, FL) added five points.
RIT's shooting fell way off in the second half, shooting only 25% from the floor. The Tigers made just four field goals in the second and none from behind the arc. RIT also committed 12 turnovers in the second half which did not help their cause.
Bacon led RIT with 19 points, while Snyder added 16 points.
Rob Hampton (Ocala, FL/Belleview) had six points and a team-high five rebounds as the Tigers were out rebounded 39-30.
RIT will face Elmira College on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. in Elmira, New York.
