Men's Basketball Loses to Rochester

ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT men’s basketball team scored a season-low 45 points en route to an 87-45 loss t the University of Rochester. The loss drops RIT to 4-3 on the season, while Rochester improves to 7-2.
 
Rochester opened the first half on an 8-2 run as the Yellowjackets led 40-16 at the half. RIT was cold from the floor, shooting 25% from the floor on 7-of-28. Tyler Springer (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) (Endwell, NY/Maine-Enwell) and Fran Snyder (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon St. Jude) (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon St. Jude) paced RIT with five points. The Tigers were out-rebounded 24 to 9 by the Yellowjackets.
 
Rochester shot 60.9% from the floor in the first half on 14-of-23 shooting. Dan Milbrand led the Yellowjackets with nine points on 4-of-4 shooting from the floor. Uche Ndubizu and Jon Onyiriuka each had six points and five rebounds.

Rochester extended their lead to 53-24 in the first five minutes of the second half and never looked back, leading by as many as 49 points.

The Yellowjackets shot 67.9% from the floor in the second half on 19-of-28 shooting. Rochester made 5-of-10 three-point attempts and was 4-of-7 from the charity stripe.
 
All 14 Rochester players scored led by Dan Milbrand who had 15 points. Jon Onyiriuka added 12 points and nine rebounds. The Yellowjackets out rebounded the Tigers, 51-19.
 
RIT shot 27.6% from the floor in the second half on 8-of-29 shooting. The Tigers made 4-of-10 three-point attempts and went 9-of-16 from the free throw line.
 
Fran Snyder (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon St. Jude) led RIT with 10 points on 2-of-9 shooting from the floor. Rob Hampton (Ocala, FL/Belleview) (Ocala, FL/Belleview) and Kris Kowalczyk (Albany, NY/Colonie) (Albany, NY/Colonie) each had seven points off the bench for the Tigers.

RIT opens Empire 8 conference play this weekend beginning at Ithaca College. The Tigers face the Bombers on Friday, January 6 at 8 p.m. in Ben Light Gymnasium.
