Men's Hockey Loses at Curry

Steve Farrer scored two goals for RIT on Saturday.

MILTON, MA -- The RIT men's hockey dropped a game to Curry College, 6-3 on Saturday afternoon in Milton, Massachusetts. The loss drops RIT to 9-6-1 on the season while Curry improves to 10-4-3.

Curry came out strong in the first period, scoring three times. Brian Doherty gave Curry a 1-0 lead just 19 seconds into the game.

Anthony King and Doherty each tallied a power play goal in the first. King's came at 5:31 and Doherty's came at the 6:24 mark.

Steve Farrer (Belle River, Ont./Chatham Jr. Maroons)'s (Belle River, Ontario) goal just a minute into the second period got RIT on the board. Farrer's goal came on the power play on assists from Marc Hyman (Thornhill, Ont./Thornhill Rattlers) (Thornhill, Ontario) and Tristan Fairbarn (Innisfill, Ont./Newmarket Hurricanes) (Innisfil, Ontario).

Farrer's even strength goal at 7:49 of the second pulled the Tigers to within a goal at 3-2. Fairbarn and Darren Doherty (Duoro, Ont./Cobourg Cougars) (Douro, Ontario) had the assists on the play.

Curry struck back with a goal in the second from Trvor Sprirdi making it 4-2 Curry heading into the third.

Michael O'Sullivan made it 5-2 Curry midway through the third on an even strength goal.

Freshman forward Ricky Walton (Hamilton, Ont./Hamilton Kilty Bees) (Hamilton, Ontario) tallied a power play goal at 9:41 on assists from Michael Tucciarone (Richmond Hill, Ont./Stouffville Spirit) (Richmond Hill, Ontario) and Roberto Orofiamma (Woodbridge, Ont./Vaughn Vipers) (Woodbridge, Ontario), making it 5-3 Curry.

However, O'Sullivan's goal at the 17:26 salted the game away, giving Curry the 6-3 victory.

RIT was outshot by Curry 37-34 and converted just one of nine power play chances.

George Eliopoulos (Markham, Ont./St. Michaels Buzzers) (Markham, Ontario) made 31 saves in net for the Tigers, allowing six goals.

RIT will face Wentoworth tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
