Smith had an excellent week in Empire 8 competition. On Saturday he made 11 saves helping the Tigers to a 0-0 tie versus #10 Stevens. He made a sprawling save in the second overtime, robbing a Stevens attacker of a goal and preserving the tie. On Sunday he was excellent again versus Utica, but took the loss, allowing one goal. He made four saves, three were brilliant saves in the first half to keep the game scoreless.
