The women’s volleyball team won five of six matches this week, taking third at the Tournament of Champions, hosted by New York University. The Tigers are currently tied for third place in the Empire 8.

Sarah Ballard, who was last year's Empire 8 freshman of the year, was named to the all-tournament team and led the Tigers to a 4-1 record at the Tournament of Champions. Earlier in the week she helped to lead the Tigers in a victory over St. John Fisher with 50 assists. She finished the week with 244 assists(14.3 per game) and 80 digs (4.7 per game). She also had 22 blocks on the week. Ballard also earned the Empire Eight Player of the Week RACA Athlete of the Week. She has a total of 891 assists on the year, which is a 10.48 per game average.

“Sarah has really started to really take hold of our offense...She has a level of control in running the offense and has been making a lot more variety in her decision making of who gets the ball, than earlier this season” noted Tigers Coach Roger  Worsley. “She has changed her approach in how she runs things for us. I’m proud of the fact that she stepped up to that and did that,” added Worsley.

The Tigers resume action on Wednesday Oct. 23, when they host Brockport at Clark Gym at 7 p.m.
