Cain recorded a third place finish at 174 lbs. at the NCAA Mideast Regional, hosted by Messiah College, advancing to the NCAA Championship for the first time. Cain went 5-1 at 174 lbs., improving to 28-5 on the season. He began his day with a pin over Caleb Fox of Muskingum in 2:46, before dropping a close match to Sonnieboy Blanco of Washington and Jefferson, 14-12. In the consolations, Cain defeated Brandon Conrad of Lycoming, 7-5, and upended Tyler Lusht of Brockport, 8-2. Cain advanced to the third place match with a 3-1 victory over Jordan Powell of Thiel. Cain would advance to the NCAA Tournament by exacting revenge on Blanco in the third place match, winning another close match, 5-4. The NCAA Championship will take place on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 at The Giant Center in Hershey, Pa. Messiah will also be the host institution.
