Mayville continued his strong start in 2012-13, finishing 3-2 to finish fourth at 149 lbs at the multi-divisional New York State Wrestling Championships, hosted by Cornell on Saturday. Mayville, seeded sixth, opened the afternoon with a 6-5 win over Kyle Wierzbicki of Oneonta, 6-5. He then recorded a pin in 4:00 to defeat Brady Kwong of Hunter to move into the semifinals. Mayville lost to No. 2 Daniel Young of Army, before rebounding to defeat Ryan Guynup of Jamestown Community College by a pin to advance to the third place match. In that match, Mayville lost to Bobby Dierna of Cortland.
