Nick Jones joined the RIT Track & Field program in January of 2024. Serving as recruiting coordinator, he also focuses primarily on sprints, hurdles and jumps for the Tigers. 

Jones spent 11 years with the track & field/cross country program at SUNY Plattsburgh, including 10 as head coach from 2011-21. He mentored seven All-Americans, 51 conference champions and 32 NCAA qualifiers during his tenure while also serving as an adjunct professor of theories and techniques in coaching track & field.
 
He most recently served as head coach for the cross country/track & field program at Division-II Saint Rose (N.Y.) and was also a volunteer assistant at RPI, guiding James Zeolla to an All-American fourth-place finish in the pole vault at the 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. Jones also served as Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach at Russell Sage for a season, mentoring the first Empire 8 Champion in Gators' history as well as 27 program record-breaking performances.
 
Jones was a four-year member of the SUNY Albany track & field team, competing in the pole vault and multi events before graduating in 2008 with a degree in sociology and a minor in psychology. He holds certifications from the US Track & Field/Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) as a sprint, hurdle and relay specialist as well as sport psychology for the track & field coach.
