Mike Nevinger begins his second season as a volunteer assistant coach on the RIT wrestling staff in 2019-20.
Nevinger enjoyed a storied career on the mats for Division I Cornell University from 2010-14. A two-year captain, Nevinger was also a two-time All-American at 141 lbs. finishing seventh nationally in 2011-12 and fifth in 2012-13. He finished his sparkling career with the Big Red tied for 17th all-time at the university with 113 wins, including 22 by fall. His 42 wins in 2012-13 are tied for third in one season at Cornell.
In the classroom, Nevinger was equally impressive, earning a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He was a member of Cornell's Student-Athletic Advisory Council, the Cornell Red Key Athlete Honor Society and 122nd Class of Quill & Dagger at Cornell.
Before arriving at RIT, Nevinger spent two seasons as a coach at the Finger Lakes Wrestling Club, where he developed first-year college wrestlers.
