BEFORE RIT:
- Varsity captain of the Superior Strykers girls soccer team, who she played for from 2018-2021.
- Member of the National Honors Society.
- Attended Houghton High School.

- Full name: Marielle Sandra Raasio
- Nickname: “El”
- Daughter of Andrea and Christopher Raasio.
- Sister to Meredith, Madelynn, Collin, and Christian.
- Started rowing in the fall of 2021 after trying out RIT’s rowing clinic.
- Hobbies include lifting, soccer, swimming, painting, hiking, running, and reading.
- Favorite athletic-related moment: When a teammate told her “Suck it up buttercup, everybody makes mistakes” after making a soccer error in 8th grade. Calls it “the most motivating thing ever.”
- Biggest influence on athletic career: Her soccer coach, Byron Quinn.
- Best advice ever received: “Don’t ever compare your results with someone else’s, you are working for yourself, not racing someone else.”
- Favorite athletes: Skier Jessie Diggins, pole vaulter Angelica Bengtsson
- Did Finnish-American Folk Dancing for many years.
