Biography
BEFORE RIT:
- Transferred from Lesley University in 2020.
- Graduated from Alvirne High School in 2018.
PERSONAL:
- Full name: Cailey Jayne Shaughnessy.
- Daughter of Michael and Lisa Shaughnessy, sister of Lacey.
- Born in Lowell, Mass.
- Says her cousin Aishling is her biggest athletic influence. She runs a small gym and taught Cailey how to workout effectively.
- Became interested in rowing after transferring to RIT in 2020 but was unable to join the team due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Joined the team in 2021 on the recommendation of a friend she’d made.
- Favorite athletic moment: Going to Liberty Leagues for the first time and coming in second.
- Best advice ever received: “Don’t be so hard on yourself.”
- Favorite athlete: Julian Edelman.
- Favorite teams: New England Patriots and Boston Bruins.
- Hobbies include astronomy, photography, and playing the flute.
