Karen Shaddock begins her second season as an assistant coach on the RIT women’s lacrosse coaching staff. Last season, Shaddock helped the Tigers to seven wins, including four in the Liberty League. She oversaw an offense that tallied 164 goals, averaging 10.25 per game. She also helped to coordinate the program’s recruiting efforts, off-season training, and day-to-day operations. In 2014-15, Shaddock also served as assistant sports information director at RIT, helping manage all 24 sports.
Prior to coming to RIT, Shaddock was an Assistant Athletic Director at Medaille College in Buffalo, N.Y. for two seasons. At Medaille, she was the Sports Information Director, Compliance Coordinator, and Head Women’s Lacrosse coach.
While at Medaille, Shaddock managed the day-to-day operations of sports information including, athletics website, game day statistics, history books, among other tasks. As a Co-SIDA member, Shaddock attended the 2014 National Convention. She was also the Co-Chair of the North Eastern Atlantic Conference for women’s lacrosse and the SAAC advisor the Medaille athletic department. Shaddock was named Most Outstanding Staff Member of the Medaille Trio for the 2013-2014 year.
Shaddock worked with Buffalo State’s Sports Information department while graduating with a bachelor’s degree in individualized studies with a concentration in sports management. She wrote articles on the athletics website and assisted in compiling statistics for varsity sports events.
A standout lacrosse player, Shaddock had an incredible career at Buffalo State from 2008-2012, with 262 goals and 457 points, third most in NCAA history in all divisions. Her 195 assists are seventh most all-time nationally. Shaddock’s 108 goals scored in 2012 are the third most in NCAA women’s lacrosse history, while her 150 points that season is the fourth best total.
Shaddock also holds Buffalo State records for most goals, assists, points, and draw controls in a game. Shaddock was named SUNYAC Rookie of the Year (2009), IWLCA Rookie of the Year (2009), SUNYAC Player of the Year (2010), and was an IWLCA First Team All-American in 2009 and 2012.
Originally from Corning, N.Y., Shaddock resides in Rochester.
