Missy Wilson will enter her 11th season as an athletic trainer at RIT in 2019-20. Her primary responsibilities include working with the RIT women's hockey, and women’s lacrosse programs, in addition to assisting other teams and in the training office.
Before arriving at RIT, Wilson worked as a certified athletic trainer for University Sports Medicine for four years. Her main responsibilities included the evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of different athletic injuries for Greece Olympia High School and the Wheatland-Chili Central School district. In addition, she was the research coordinator of the ACL prevention program, and was a trainer for the Rochester Razor Sharks, of the Premier Basketball League.
Wilson is certified by, and is a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association. She has received her New York State Athletic Trainers License, and is a registered clinical exercise physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine.
From 2004-05, Wilson was a certified athletic trainer at HealthSouth in Parkersburg, W.Va. She was in charge of developing wellness and performance enhancement programs, and provided injury care, treatment, and management to Wood County Junior High-Schools, and Ritchie County High School athletics.
Wilson received her bachelor’s degree in athletic training and physical education in 2001 from Catawba College. At Catawba, she was the recipient of the Frank Myer’s Athletic Trainer of the Year Award in 2001. She went on to receive her master’s degree in exercise science, adult fitness, and cardiac rehab in 2003 from Marshall University.
Wilson resides in Churchville with her husband, T.L. and son, Jordan and daughter, Brooke.
