Bethany Marren begins her ninth season on the administrative staff at RIT in 2024-25. Marren was named associate director of athletics for compliance after spending her first two seasons as assistant director. During the 2023-2024 school year, Marren was named the department's Senior Woman Administrator. Marren has direct supervisory roles for Men's Soccer and Softball.
Marren oversees and manages the NCAA, university, and governmental compliance requirements and NCAA team and individual eligibility processes for the department. She also manages the student-athlete conduct process and serves as the point person for rules education and enforcement for all student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
Marren is currently serving a four-year term (2022-2026) on the NCAA Division III Interpretations and Legislation Committee. She has also completed the NACDA Senior Mentoring Institute (2023) and the Women Leaders in College Sports Institute for Administrative Advancement 2018 reflecting her dedication to professional development and leadership in collegiate athletics.
Previously, Marren was the lead administrator for the Division I men’s and women’s hockey teams, along with serving as the main supervisor of the department’s game-day operations, among other duties.
Marren previously served as Assistant Athletic Director at Division I Iona, overseeing academic advising and student-athlete progress for the Gaels. In addition, she assisted the athletic director for compliance and was a co-advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Marren also was the home event supervisor for women's soccer and women's lacrosse and was part of the game-day administrative staff for men's and women's basketball.
Prior to arriving at Iona, Marren was Assistant Athletic Director at Finger Lakes Community College. Her primary duties included academic advisement of student-athletes, NJCAA eligibility and compliance, and event supervision of home athletics.
Marren earned a bachelor's degree in physical education and health sciences from Brockport in 2009, as well as a master's degree in athletics administration in 2012.
A four-year student-athlete, Marren starred on the Brockport volleyball team as a libero/defensive specialist from 2005-08. She helped lead the Golden Eagles to a berth in the 2007 NCAA Tournament while totaling 148 appearances, 1,774 digs, and 109 service aces during her four-year career.
Marren was an assistant volleyball coach at her alma mater from 2009-2012, including interim head coach her final season. She also served as an assistant volleyball coach at FLCC for two seasons.
Marren lives in Farmington with her husband, Sean, and their children, Maeve, Josie, and Jameson.
