PERSONAL
• Madeline Isabel Barstow was born in Syracuse, N.Y.
• Parents are Jackie and Rick Barstow.
• Has one older sibling – Zachary.
• Father graduated from RIT in 1990.
• Enjoys skiing, golfing, hunting and swimming in her spare time.
• Best advice received was from her swim coach Robert Marks – “Focus on the girl looking back at you in the mirror and stay in your lane. This taught me to focus more on myself and my personal goals rather than those around me. I can help my team best by focusing on myself and improving the most in my own performance.”
• Lists her parents as having the most influence on her athletic career – “They have supported me in everything that I have done. Whether it be traveling, tournaments, practices, at-home workouts, or having a cheering section, my parents have never failed to be my biggest support.”
• Started playing softball at five years old.
• Lists US Alpine Ski Racing Team member River Radamus as her favorite athlete because, “Though he may not always be the fastest racer on the hill, he always keeps it positive and fun.”
