Chris Frey

Chris Frey begins his 11th year as coach of RIT’s men's novice program in 2022-23. He was a member of the RIT men’s coaching staff that was named Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year in both 2014-15 and 2016-17.
 
Under Frey’s tutelage, the Tigers have earned Liberty League Novice Crew of the Year four times over the last six seasons.
 
During Frey’s career as a Tiger oarsman, he was a member of several medal-winning crews, including the varsity eight that won bronze at the 2006 New York State Collegiate Rowing Championships, varsity lightweight four that won gold at the 2006 Dad Vail Regatta and varsity four that won silver at the 2006 Head of the Charles.

In 2007, Frey was a member of the second RIT boat to attend the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship and went on to compete in the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta in England. He was also the recipient of three RIT Male Athlete of the Week honors.
 
Frey earned a bachelor’s degree in information technology with honors in 2007 and is employed by Sharp Notions, LLC in Rochester. He lives in Scottsville with his wife Fredyne, who is currently the women’s varsity coach.
