Hysha Robinson

Hysha Robinson is entering her tenth season as the Head Cheerleading Coach at RIT. During that time her teams have placed at local, regional and national championships and successfully transformed from an all-girl cheer to a coed squad. During that time, she has also strengthened the team and the team’s relationship with the Athletics department.

Robinson, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y. has cheered at the high school level in New York City, and at the college level at RIT.  She also was a member of the Buffalo Jills squad for two seasons and a Rochester Knighthawks cheerleader for two years.

Professionally, Robinson has worked at in Higher Education for 10 years in Financial Aid and Academic Support. She has been an academic advisor to many campus organizations and student groups. She currently works at the University of Rochester, and holds a bachelor’s degree in information technology and a master’s degree in public policy, both from RIT.

Robinson’s philosophy is that academics come first, however, the college learning process does not just happen in the classroom. Everything that young people participate in, is a life-changing experience. Her job is to make sure their experience is as enriching as possible. When the coach – cheerleader relationship is over, she hopes to continue to be a role model and a life resource.
