Career: Earned All-Empire 8 honors in all four seasons at RIT … was the Empire 8 Rookie of the Year in 2005 … first team selection in 2006 and 2007 … second team selection in 2009 … played in 70 games.

2009: One of RIT’s three captains … earned All-Empire 8 second team honors … named the Empire 8 Player of the Week, Oct. 19 … finished with a goal and three assists for five points … scored a goal in RIT’s 2-1 win over Hamilton … drew assists against St. Lawrence, Elmira, and Alfred … fired 19 shots … attempted five shots, including three on goal in the win over Hamilton.

2008: Suffered a season-ending injury against Hobart in the second game of the year.

2007: Appeared in 16 games … earned All-Empire 8 first-team honors for the second consecutive season … scored RIT’s lone goal in a 1-1 draw against St. Lawrence … tallied the game-tying goal in an eventual 2-1 overtime win against Buffalo State.

2006: Played in and started all 17 games … earned All-Empire 8 first-team honors … helped lead the defense to six straight shutouts, Oct. 7 to Nov. 1.
2005: Earned Empire 8 Co-Rookie of the Year honors … helped RIT’s defense hold opponents to 1.09 goals per game.

Before RIT: Played soccer and ran track at Spencerport High School … won three letters … two-time all-county selection … All-Greater Rochester selection.

Personal: Also participated in varsity track and field for the Tigers … electrical engineering major … born July 14, 1986, in Rochester, N.Y. … son of Debbie and Phillip Somers.
