Biography

2023-24:
  • Took part in nine indoor meets and seven outdoor meets
  • Set a personal-best in the weight throw, the 60 and the hammer  
  • Placed second in the weight throw final at the Liberty League Indoor Championships
  • Finished second in the hammer final and eighth in the discus final at the Liberty League Outdoor Championships
  • Participated in both the Atlantic Region Indoor and Outdoor Championships
2022-23:
  • Participated in eight meets during the indoor season, including the Liberty League Indoor Championships, where he finished eighth in weight throw (15.05m/49'4.5'')
2021-22:
  • Took part in nine indoor events and seven outdoor events
  • Finished sixth in the weight throw final at the Liberty League Indoor Championships
  • Placed 10th in both the discus and hammer finals at the Liberty League Outdoor Championships
  • Competed at both the Atlantic Region Indoor and Outdoor Championships
2020-21:
  • Took part in eight outdoor meets
  • Placed fifth in the hammer final at the Liberty League Outdoor Championships
2019-20:
  • Took part in eight indoor meets
  • Made collegiate debut at Houghton December Classic on 12/13/2019
  • Competed at Liberty League Indoor Championships
BEFORE RIT:
  • Member of 2018 Section V Class A champion team at Greece Arcadia.
  • Winner of 2018-19 Indoor Track Coaches Award
  • Named 2018 cross country MVP and 2019 outdoor track most improved player.
  • Also swam competitively.
PERSONAL:
  • Son of Beth Toly-Hughes and Roal Hughes, both RIT graduates.
  • Started competing in the field events in his senior year of high school. He had stopped swimming to try out indoor track, but suffered a hip injury. Instead, he gave the throwing events a try and fell in love with it. By the end of his first year, he was just a few inches away from qualifying for states in discus.
  • Favorite athlete: Throwing events competitor Sean Donnelly, who even coached Aidan individually for a few months prior to arriving at RIT.
