Baseball defeats St. John Fisher, 11-3

ROCHESTER, N.Y.   – Junior second baseman Jarin Moses hit a pair of home runs to lead the RIT baseball team to an 11-3 win against St. John Fisher, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Moses opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run hit over the left-field fence.
  • The visiting Cardinals got one back in the second when Benjamin Huckans hit a sacrifice fly to the right field, driving in Dominic Guccia.
  • In the bottom of the second, junior Charlie Slaymaker hit a solo home run to put the score at 3-1.
  • St. John Fisher cut lead to one run in the third inning when Jack Griffin singled to center field to bring in Jordan Perry.
  • Jackson Rusiecki, a junior, hit a double to left center, allowing sophomore Mikey Zacher to score in the fifth inning to give RIT a two-run advantage.
  • The Tigers extended the lead in the seventh when designated hitter Roberto Reade hit into a sacrifice fly to bring senior Randy Dodig home, putting the score at 5-2.
  • Later in the seventh, junior Caelen Kim doubled to left field, allowing Moses and Rusiecki to come home.
  • The eighth inning saw Moses put the game away for RIT with a three-run home run over the left field fence to make the score 11-3.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Moses finished the game going 2-of-4 with two hits and a walk, scoring three runs and recording five RBIs.
  • Starting pitcher Luc Rising struck out a career-high 10 batters through five innings to improve to 2-0.
  • In relief, first-year Owen Fisher notched four strikeouts over the last four innings.
  • With the win, RIT extended its winning streak to 10 games.
