Women's Hockey downs Lindenwood, 7-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. –RIT junior forward Addie Alvarez recorded her first career hat trick to lead the Tigers to a 6-1 win over Lindenwood, Saturday.
 
Junior defender Emma Pickering recorded a career-high three assists and junior forward Linda Rulle tallied a career-best three points and two assists. Sophomore forward Zoe Ziotas and sophomore defender Madison Buziak each scored their first collegiate goals.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Alvarez scored at 13:06 of the first period to give RIT the lead. She took a pass from junior forward Linda Rulle and fired a wrist shot over Madison Bowtell's shoulder into the top corner.
  • Nicole Pietrucha tied the game at 1-1 on her goal at 17:05 of the opening frame.
  • Sophomore forward Kailey Favro scored 52 seconds into the second period to give RIT a 2-1 lead. Pickering sent a long pass to Favro. She skated in alone and beat Bowtell on the forehand.
  • Ziotas scored her first collegiate goal at 1:43 of the second to give RIT a 3-1 lead.
  • Rulle scored at 5:25 into the second with a wrist shot into the top corner to extend the Tigers lead to 4-1.
  • Alvarez scored her second goal of the period at 7:27 off an assist from Pickering to give RIT a 5-1 lead and completed the hat trick with her goal at 15:21 of the second to give the Tigers a 6-1 lead.
  • Buziak scored her first collegiate goal at 7:50 of the third period to make it a 7-1 final.
GAME NOTES:
  • RIT outshot Lindenwood, 40-30.
  • The Tigers went 2-for-4 on the power play, while the Lions were 0-for-2.
  • Sophomore goalie Brenna McNamara made a career-high 29 saves in net for the Tigers.
