Lindsay Ford scored in the 14th minute and senior goalkeeper
Emily Sanchez made six saves to lead the RIT women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Ithaca in Liberty League action, Tuesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ford scored her first goal of the season in the 14th minute off assists from sophomores Daniella Malanga and Eli Gonzalez, sending a shot from nearly 25 yards out to the upper right corner of the goal.
- Ithaca pressured the Tigers' defense for long stretches in the second half, totaling eight shots and taking seven corner kicks.
- Sanchez made four saves in the second half to keep the Bombers off the scoreboard.
GAME NOTES
- The Tigers held Ithaca scoreless despite being outshot 14-to-9 and allowing 12 corner kicks by the Bombers.
- The shutout is Sanchez's fourth of the season.
- Ford led RIT with two shots on goal, including the game-winning goal.
- RIT improved to 6-3-6 overall and 3-3-1 in the Liberty League.
