ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT Softball team opened Liberty League play with a doubleheader split with visiting Rochester, taking the opener, 1-0, in eight innings, before falling, 14-0, in the five-inning rematch.
RIT 1, ROCHESTER 0 (8 INN.)
- Sophomore Jessica Majot twirled a complete-game three-hitter, only allowing one runner past second, to improve to 4-0 this spring.
- Junior Maddy Cook finished 2-for-4, plating junior Bailey Kehl with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.
- Majot got out of a one-out jam in the fifth after hitting the leadoff batter who eventually advanced to third with one out. Majot induced an infield pop-out followed by a ground-out to second to avoid any damage.

Junior Lillian Rienstra advanced both runners with another sacrifice bunt, before first-year Emma Merkley was intentionally walked to load the bases.
- Cook drove a ball over second base to bring home Kehl with the winning run.

- Cook logged the lone Tiger hit in the second game, while the Yellowjackets plated two runs in the first and three in the second for a 5-0 lead.
- Rochester scored single runs in the third and the fourth before scoring seven times in the fifth to put the game out of reach.
