Women's Lacrosse loses 17-11 at Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – RIT sophomore Serafina Kiselgof tied her career-high scoring five goals in the Tigers 17-11 loss at Vassar, Saturday.
 
Sophomore midfielder Morgan Nichter scored three goals, while first-year attack Emma Ripley finished with two goals.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Vassar scored the first three goals of the first quarter, taking a 3-0 lead on Tess Billings' goal with 11:19 remaining in the quarter.
  • Nichter and Kiselgof tallied back-to-back goals, cutting the Brewers lead to 3-2 on Kiselgof's goal with 5:33 to play.
  • Siena Wong and Maeve Faigel scored two straight goals for Vassar, increasing its lead to 5-2 on Faigel's goal with 3:28 remaining in the frame.
  • Kari Ringler gave Vassar a 6-2 lead on her goal 46 seconds into the second quarter.
  • Kiselgof tallied her second goal of the opening half off an assist from first-year defender Katherine Killian with 9:44 to play to cut the Brewer's lead to 6-3.
  • Emilia DiLiberto scored with 2:53 remaining to give Vassar a 7-3 lead at halftime.
  • Ripley cut the Vassar lead to 7-4 on her goal early in the third quarter and Kiselgof made it a two-goal game on her goal 24 seconds later.
  • Vassar ran off five straight goals, taking a 12-5 lead on Ringler's goal with 6:33 remaining in the third quarter.
  • Nichter scored a free-position goal to cut the deficit to 12-6, but Billings and DiLiberto tallied back-to-back goals to extend the Vassar lead to 14-7.
  • Ripley scored with 1:49 to play in the third to cut the Vassar lead to 14-7, but the Brewers scored two goals late in the quarter to take a 16-7 lead.
  • Kiselgof scored two of the Tiger's four straight goals to begin the fourth quarter. Nichter and junior midfielder Lily DePalma also scored in the quarter.
  • Billings scored with 33 seconds to play to make it a 17-11 final.
 
GAME NOTES:
  • Vassar outshot RIT, 34-29.
  • RIT had 18 ground balls and won 13 draw controls.
  • The Tigers went 12-of-14 on clearing attempts.
  • Sophomore goalie Ellie Ruddy made 10 saves for the Tigers.
  • Killian won seven draw controls, caused two turnovers and grabbed four ground balls.
