ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior attack
Carrissa Hlywa tallied a career-best six points to lead the Tigers to a 15-13 win over Brockport, Wednesday.
Hlywa led RIT with four goals and two assists, while sophomore midfielder
Serafina Kiselgof recorded a career-high five points (3g, 2a). Junior midfielder
Lily DePalma finished with two goals and two assists and sophomore midfielder
Morgan Nichter scored three goals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hlywa had a goal and an assist in RIT's four-goal run to begin the game. She gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead on her goal with 10:44 remaining in the quarter, and assisted on sophomore midfielder Bella Boardman's goal to give RIT a 4-0 lead.
- Alayna Foos scored two straight goals and Julia Quinlan scored with eight seconds to play in the opening frame to cut RIT's lead to 4-3.
- DePalma scored off an assist from sophomore attack Adele Jones early in the second quarter to extend RIT's lead to 5-3.
- Brockport scored two straight goals, tying the score at 5-5 on Cassidy Burnash's goal with 6:58 remaining in the half.
- Kiselgof scored to give RIT a 6-5 lead, but Brockport scored three straight goals, taking an 8-6 lead on Burnash's goal with 2:04 to play.
- Nichter made it a one-goal game with her goal with 1:13 remaining in the half and Tristan Davis scored inside the last minute to give Brockport a 9-7 halftime lead.
- RIT scored the first two goals of the third quarter, tying the score at 9-9 on Nichter's goal with 9:34 remaining.
- Davis and Burnash tallied back-to-back goals, taking an 11-9 lead on Burnash's goal with 7:56 to play in the quarter.
- Nichter scored off an assist from Kiselgof with 57 seconds to play to cut Brockport's lead to 11-10.
- DePalma had two assists and Hlywa tallied a goal and an assist in RIT's four-goal run to begin the fourth quarter. Kiselgof tied the score at 11-11 on her goal, while sophomore midfielder Kate Trojan gave the Tigers a 14-11 lead on her goal with 8:47 to play.
- Foos scored to make it 14-12 and Hailey Lewkovich made it a one-goal game on her goal with 5:57 to play, but Hlywa scored with 3:01 remaining to give the Tigers a two-goal cushion.
- Sophomore goalie Ellie Ruddy made a huge save for RIT with 1:29 remaining to preserve the 15-13 victory.
GAME NOTES
- Brockport outshot RIT, 31-28.
- Ruddy made eight saves in net to improve to 2-1.
- Sophomore defender Rachel Kulp caused three turnovers, while Kiselgof had for ground balls.
- RIT went 14-of-18 on clearing attempts and won 15 draw controls.
