ROCHESTER, N.Y. –RIT junior midfielder
Selorm Dake scored a goal to lead the men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over RPI in Liberty League action, Saturday.
The Tigers honored members of the 1984 team at halftime. That season, RIT recorded a 19-1-1 record, advancing to the NCAA Semifinals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore forward Jake Donahue had his penalty kick in the 13th minute saved by RPI keeper, Noah Churchill. The rebound came back to Donahue and his shot was deflected over the crossbar by an Engineers defender to keep it a scoreless game.
- Dake scored his first goal of the season in the 39th minute to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Senior midfielder Ludo Zanotti sent a long pass out to Dake on the flank. He outran the defender and fired a shot from the top of the box into the far corner.
- RIT's defense clamped down in the second half, allowing two shots from distance and none on goal.
- The Tigers fired six second-half shots, including three on net.
GAME NOTES
- RIT outshot RPI 28-6, including six on net
- Senior goalie Jason Trapp made two saves in net to earn the win
- The Tigers had 14 corner kicks to four for the Engineers
- With the win the Tigers move into sixth place in the Liberty League standings
