ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The RIT women's hockey team opens the 2023-24 season with a pair non-conference games at RPI, Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 23-24).
Captains of the Ship
Senior forward
Lindsay Maloney and junior forward
Megan McCormick were named captain and alternate captain, respectively for 2023-24. Maloney finished second on the team with 13 points (6g, 7a) last season, and was third in the CHA with 310 face-off wins, while McCormick finished third on the team and ninth in the CHA with a career-high 49 blocked shots.

Sarah Coe returns after earning Second Team All-CHA honors a year ago. She finished third in save percentage, and fourth in goals against average. The AHCA All-American Scholar and CHA All-Academic Team selection recorded a career-low 3.14 goals against average and a career-high .911 save percentage. She finished eighth in Division I and second in the CHA making 822 saves.
Coe enters her junior season fourth all-time with 56 career games and 2.938 minutes played. She is second all-time with 1,701 career saves and tenth with a .903 career save percentage.
Newcomers
RIT adds five new faces to the 2023-24 roster in forwards
Addie Alvarez,
Jaidan Fahrny,
Logan Marchese and
Linda Rulle, along with defensewoman
Emma Pickering. Alvarez helped the Syracuse Valley Eagles to a win at nationals in 2023, while Fahrny tallied a goal and an assist in 28 games at Clarkson in 2022-23. Rulle played for Lulea HF and Marchese was the MVP of the varsity girls hockey team at St. Marcellinus. Pickering won 2022-23 MVP and was her senior year at Gilmour Academy.
They Come From Far and Wide
The 27 Tigers hail from 11 states, three Canadian provinces and one country in Europe, with the largest groups coming from Ontario (5), New York (4) and Illinois (3). Players hail from as close as Rochester, NY to as far away as Pale, Latvia (4,192 miles).
RIT vs. RPI - Last Season
RIT finished 0-2 against RPI in 2022-23. The Tigers lost 2-0 on Oct. 21, followed by a 3-0 defeat the following day. Senior goalie

2023-24 Schedule
The Tigers begin their season with a two two-game series at RPI, before a weekend series at Assumption (Sept. 29-30).
RIT hosts No. 3 Minnesota for a pair of non-conference games at the Gene Polisseni Center on Oct. 6-7. The following weekend the Tigers host Union for a pair of games as part of Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend. The 2011-12 national championship team will be inducted into the RIT Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday (Oct. 14).
RIT plays at St. Lawrence (Oct. 19) before beginning CHA play with a pair of games against Lindenwood (Oct. 27-28) to close out October.
The Tigers host Mercyhurst (Nov. 3-4) before a weekend series at Robert Morris (Nov. 17-18). RIT closes out the first semester with a home-and-home series against Syracuse. The travel to Syracuse (Dec. 1), while the two team meet again the following day at The Gene Polisseni Center.
The second semester begins with a pair of games at St. Michael's (Dec. 29-30), followed by a weekend series at Brown (Jan. 5-6).
RIT's final 12 games are against CHA foes, including a home series against No. 11 Penn State (Jan. 12-13). The Tigers play at Lindenwood (Jan. 19-20) and at Mercyhurst (Jan. 26-27).
The Tigers kick off February with a pair of games at home against Robert Morris (Feb. 2-3), followed by a home game against Syracuse (Feb. 9). RIT's final three regular season games are at Syracuse (Feb. 10) and at Penn State (Feb. 16-17).
The CHA tournament is scheduled to begin February 24.
