Women's Lacrosse loses 13-10 to Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT first year Kate Trojan scored four goals in the Tigers 13-10 loss to Rochester, Wednesday.
 
First-year Zoe Heffernan had a goal and three assists, while first-year Adele Jones tallied a goal and an assist.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • First-year Serafina Kiselgof scored off an assist from Heffernan early in the first quarter to give RIT the lead.
  • Rochester answered with two straight goals, taking a 2-1 lead on Alyssa Gorny's goal with 11:33 to play in the quarter.
  • Trojan scored her first goal of the game with 9:58 to play in the first to tie the score at 2-2.
  • Gorny scored two straight goals for the Yellowjackets to give Rochester a 4-2 lead early in the second quarter.
  • Sophomore Lily DePalma scored midway through the second to cut the deficit to 4-3, but Rochester ran off two straight goals to take a 6-3 lead with 7:08 remaining in the half.
  • Trojan scored her second goal of the game with 6:01 to play to make it 6-4, but Gorny scored with 1:05 remaining in the half to give Rochester a 7-4 lead at the break.
  • Jones scored early in the third quarter to cut the Rochester lead to 7-5, but Gorny answered for the Yellowjackets with her goal with 10:33 to play in the quarter to give Rochester an 8-5 lead.
  • Trojan netted her third goal of the game off an assist from Heffernan with 10:05 to play in the third to make it an 8-6 game.
  • Heffernan tallied a goal and an assist in a RIT three-goal run, tying the score at 9-9 on her goal off an assist from Jones with 5:02 to play in the quarter.
  • Rochester scored the final three goals of the third quarter to take a 12-9 lead into the fourth.
  • Grace Crochiere scored with 7:54 to play in the fourth to make it 13-9, while junior Julia Tenney scored late in the game to make it a 13-10 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Rochester outshot RIT, 29-27.
  • RIT graduate student goalie Michelle Messenger made 10 saves.
  • RIT was 16-of-20 on clearing attempts and had 22 ground balls.
